This is the first in a series of images addressing the mid-Century graphic design General Motors employed in their cars.

This 1956 Pontiac hood is the perfect early fifties subliminal jet age imagery. Here we see a superb modernist sculpture of a Northrop YB-49 flying wing.  To give it altitude and speed, the entire hood is a representation of two contrails across a pale blue sky. This particular Chieftain's color is the perfect setting for this incredible period expression.
The photo has been art directed to further the decryption of the graphic design in metal and paint.
To enhance the sense of speed the close contrail diminishes in crisp angle at the bottom right edge.
