Just a comment on the illustration here. In art directing the Alfa book, I wanted it to have the look and feel of a publication from the early 1950s. That is why I created the profile watercolors of the cars. I wanted theses illustrations to bring back the memory of all those framed car illustrations that our Dad's had in their libraries when we were kids.

The engine drawings are an entirely different matter. In taking the original digital publication of 1993 - 1996 into print, I had a special requirement. In the CD-ROM all of the engines were presented as engineering animations that unfolded as you read the text. For this print edition, I wanted the illustrations to be as evocative as the animations. It took two weeks of testing to come up with the 3D print style presented here. Each drawing took four to five days, just in case you're curious.
