Pebble walk about continued...
As it never hurts to depart Pebble Beach before it gets really crowded one of our crew headed back to the track to view the second annual Corkscrew Hillclimb event at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca. Fifty vehicles entered, launching off the front straight heading towards the very tight squeeze of turn 11, through 10 and then 9 – Rainey Curve. The real challenge was racing UP through the famed Corkscrew unloading the suspension as you turn right to take the checkered flag and slow down for turn 7. It’s a very competitive event, this year it included one dedicated off-road vehicle that did surprisingly well with several cars getting agricultural as they attempted to negotiate the right turn at the top of the Corkscrew. And for the second year in a row Chris Locke took best time in his Lotus 77 Formula 1 car besting Christine Sloss in her Ferrari SF90 and Patrick Long is his highly modified 911 Turbo. Congratulations Chris Locke!

The Monterey Weekend flew by. The really cool Lotus type 66 of which only ten will be built to honor the ten Can Am races held in 1970 was nicely displayed. And the Lotus Emira represents a very serious shift, for the first time Lotus is offering levels of fit and finish that match Porsche and the other top makes. Great weekend, lots of fun, pleasing to see Lotus back in the market with very attractive, well-finished and highly competitive offerings.
